About this event
Wild Mushroom & Foraging Walk in County Tipperary
Join me for a few hours in Joe Keane's fungi-abundant woodland to explore the world of wild mushrooms and seasonal wild foods.
Together, we will forage for edible, medicinal, and toxic mushroom species while learning the key identification features that distinguish them.
Should it be that fungi aren't as abundant as we hope on this particular day, we will focus on habitat, key tree species, and seasonal wild plants that are always around us.
What to Expect
- A warm medicinal mushroom tea upon arrival.
- A guided walk through Joe's forest to identify and collect edible mushrooms and learn ID features.
- Wild Tasters: Joe and Courtney will prepare cooked tasters of our wild finds (or a selection of pre-prepared wild food treats) at the end of the walk.
- Custom Zine: Take home a special guide packed with recipes, book recommendations, and useful links to continue your learning.
When: Friday, 30 October 2026 | 12 - 4 PM
Exact Location: Sent directly to registered participants prior to the event, however this will be in Carney, Tipperary.
Pricing:
- Early Bird: €95 (available until 1 October 2026)

About Your Guide: Courtney Tyler
I live in County Wicklow, happiest surrounded by trees and observing the changing seasons. As a member of The Association of Foragers, I spend much of my time wandering hedgerows and forests, harvesting local wild foods for medicinal preparations, wild cooking, and ferments.
While I am not a formal mycologist, I have safely foraged and consumed around 100 wild mushroom species. I focus heavily on toxic species safety, clear identification, and ethical harvesting. Having completed my Forest Bathing Certification (supported by Wicklow Partnership and LEADER funding), I bring a grounded, immersive approach to connecting with the natural world.
