Medicinal Mushroom ID Walk with Courtney Tyler
Join me for an immersive few hours in the stunning Wild Wicklow hills and woodlands as we explore the fascinating kingdom fungi.
This walk will focus on medicinal mushrooms, their unique properties, and how to identify, preserve, and process them to maximize their medicinal potential. Along the way, we’ll also encounter a variety of wild fungi, including edible, toxic, and medicinal species, and discuss key identification features, including tree hosts.
Together, we'll share a lunchtime picnic in the outdoors and we’ll also enjoy a medicinal mushroom hot drink in the woods and delve into the fascinating topic of Irish wild medicinal mushrooms.
Event Details:
• Date & Time: Sunday, 15 November 2026, 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Location: Wicklow hills and woodlands (exact location will be shared with attendees prior to the event).

• Early Bird: €85 (until 1 September 2026)
• Full Price: €105 (from 2 September 2026)
What to Expect:
• Mushroom ID skills and how to forage sustainably: Discover a variety of wild mushroom species and focus on medicinal mushrooms and their benefits.
• Preservation & Processing: Learn techniques to preserve and process mushrooms for their medicinal qualities.
• Nature Connection: If conditions are not favorable for mushroom foraging, we’ll explore tree identification, other wild plants, or enjoy forest bathing and nature-based activities.
• Community Experience: Share your packed lunch with the group (optional) and connect with fellow nature enthusiasts.
• Resources Provided: Comprehensive notes and recommended learning materials.
* Should the weather be challenging we will transistion the day to be more theory based around a fire or under some shelter with educational chats, tastes and questions.
What to Bring:
• Packed lunch, drinks, and snacks (optional to share with the group).
• Foraging basket (if you have one).
• Dress for the outdoors, including sturdy hiking boots and weather-appropriate clothing.

Please Note: While I will do my utmost to provide a rewarding and enriching experience, the availability of wild mushrooms depends on nature’s conditions and may not always meet expectations. If mushrooms are less abundant than hoped, we will adapt by exploring the fascinating relationships between fungi and trees, sharing stories, facts, and insights, and engaging in additional activities to deepen our connection with the forest and enjoy mindful time in nature.
